Hermes preinstalled
Start from a configured Hermes Agent installation instead of assembling a blank operating-system image.
Hermes on dedicated hardware
MangoTart is the ready-to-run path for Hermes: a private agent computer with Agent OS, a persistent browser environment, a local console, diagnostics, updates, and recovery controls assembled around the runtime.
Product scope reviewed July 13, 2026.
Always-on by design
An agent that handles schedules and long-running work should not depend on the computer you carry every day.
MangoTart runs independently from your daily laptop. While it remains powered, connected, and able to reach your chosen provider, Hermes can continue scheduled and background work after your laptop sleeps or leaves the house.
A separate runtime also creates a clearer boundary between agent experiments and the files, accounts, and browser profile on your main computer. It reduces that shared surface; it does not make agent actions risk-free.
Agent OS
MangoTart turns a blank computer into an operated Hermes environment, without pretending the hardware alone is the product.
Start from a configured Hermes Agent installation instead of assembling a blank operating-system image.
A Chromium environment is ready for websites, forms, downloads, and signed-in sessions, with its profile stored on the device.
Set up providers and channels, view device, Hermes, and browser status, and inspect update diagnostics from your local network.
Failed software updates automatically return to the previous program version. Export and import Hermes state for supported recovery or migration.
Guided setup
Everyday setup happens in the local console. Advanced tools remain available, but they are not the starting point.
Connect power and a wired network. MangoTart starts its agent and browser services independently from your laptop.
From a phone or computer on the same network, open the address printed on the device and follow the onboarding flow.
Use a supported OAuth account, your own API key, or a compatible endpoint supported by the current Hermes version.
Start in plain language, then add browser logins, messaging channels, tools, or schedules as the workflow needs them.
Runtime, not a token service
MangoTart operates the agent environment. The model still comes from the provider you choose.
Connect a ChatGPT subscription through supported OAuth, or choose another provider that the installed Hermes version supports with your own API key or endpoint. Credentials are configured on the device; MangoTart does not run a shared token pool or bill for model usage.
When Hermes calls a cloud model, the prompt and task context needed for that request go to that provider. Its pricing, retention, and data policies still apply.
State and recovery
Local ownership should be concrete: know what remains on the device, what leaves for a task, and how recovery works.
Hermes configuration, memory, skills, chat state, provider credentials, browser profile, and service diagnostics are stored on MangoTart.
Cloud disaster backups are opt-in and encrypted on the device before upload. The service stores ciphertext and does not store the backup password.
A supported MangoTart-to-MangoTart restore imports Hermes state. Browser logins are excluded, so websites need to be signed in again after recovery.
Model providers, messaging platforms, and websites receive the data required when a workflow actively uses them.
The honest answers about setup, models, remote access, and what MangoTart does not replace.
Skip the blank image and the work of assembling the runtime. Start with the supported agent environment already put together.
